ALEXANDER SOLZHENITSYN

Solzhenitsyn nació en una familia de cosacos intelectuales y criado principalmente por su madre (su padre fue muerto en un accidente antes de su nacimiento). He attended the University of Rostov-na-Donu, graduating in mathematics, and took correspondence courses in literature at Moscow State University. Asistió a la Universidad de Rostov-na-Donu, se graduó en matemáticas, y tomó cursos por correspondencia en la literatura en la Universidad Estatal de Moscú. He fought in World War II, achieving the rank of captain of artillery; in 1945, however, he was arrested for writing a letter in which he criticized Joseph Stalin and spent eight years in prisons and labour camps, after which he spent three more years in enforced exile. Luchó en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, logrando el grado de capitán de artillería; en 1945,
